me and craig showed up this evening for class.
we both did our own restorative practice.
here's what i did:
bound supta baddha konasana with strap, bolster, and blankets.
transition: side lying rest pose.
uppavista konasana (wide leg forward fold) with support.
pavritta janu sirsasana with head supported on bolster. (both sides)
yin style baddha konasana
transition: malasana, utanasana
supta virasana:
i hardly ever teach this pose. as kira would joke, "it's not a crowd pleaser". i was first introduced to this pose during my iyengar days of practicing. out of curiosity, i propped myself in the exact same way that i was taught years ago, and it was totally uncomfortable and awkward. tonight i realized how much my body has changed since then.
supta virasana with two bolsters, a block, blanket, and strap around my thighs worked for me then, but tonight i felt way "over-propped". slowly i began to shed layers of props until i found comfort and ease with the support of only one bolster- placed lengthwise under my spine. i imagine the next time i venture into this shape, the support will shift and change again.
transition: cat/dog tilt, dog, childs.
supported spinal (forward) twist. (both sides)
elevated legs up the wall with bolster under hips.
long sit.
our practice ended at 7:30pm...2 hours later!
