10 peeps (4 men, 6 women)
a wide range of experience and age in the class. 3 newbies.
felt like a large class today!
we began with a support heart-opener.
supported reclining pose with bolster lengthwise under spine
and two stacked, rolled blankets (or another bolster) under knees.
this pose usually encourages peeps to drop into the practice. it tends to
be sedating and relaxing. a nice, easy way to ease into class.
led them through a guided meditation on the breath.
feeling into the sensations in the body. did a bit more talking than usual
to emphasize the nervous system and navigating through the postures, but allowed
space for silence.
the importance of silence in teaching restorative.
allowing the space for peeps to hear their inner dialog
and to surrender into the stillness of it all.
so many layers to the experience...it's the Yoga.
transition into side-lying rest pose. pause.
wide-leg forward folder with modifications for tight hamstrings.
emphasizing the exhale, and guiding your breath to where you feel the pose,
most likely thru the low back, hips, inner groin, and pelvic floor.
hands under the knees, transition into supta baddha konasana
supine on a bolster with a rolled blanket under each knee.
breathing into the heart. feeling the energy and sensation around the heart.
extending legs, lengthening arms over head, breathing.
gentle circles with ankles, movement.
transition into side-lying rest pose. pause.
supported childs pose with bolster.
transition onto all fours. easy freestyle, coordinating movement and breath.
listening within.
backs. easy supported spinal twist.
